Dr. Marta Lopes, from NOVA FCT, who was talking about

‘Multi-Omics Biomarker Discovery in Oncology Using Statistical and Machine Learning Methods’.

Short Bio

Marta earned a Biology degree from Faculdade de Ciências, University of Lisbon (ULisboa) in 2003, followed by a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ULisboa) in 2006, and a PhD in Biotechnology from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST-ULisboa) in 2011. She is an Assistant Researcher at NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT), developing research at the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. Her primary scientific focus is developing mathematical and computational tools based on data mining and machine learning to extract meaningful information from high-dimensional data generated in biomedical applications. Marta coordinates the Data Science Thematic Line of the Center for Mathematics and Applications (NOVA Math).
