NIMSB, officially launched in October 2023, is establishing a team according to its Organizational Chart:
António Jacinto serves as the Scientific Interim Director of NIMSB and collaborates with all departments within the institute to enhance the acceleration of its results.
Sofia Miguel, Vice-director for Financial Sustainability and Impact, supervises the Social Impact Services which includes the Research Funding and Strategic partnerships, Communication and Dissemination and Innovation and Technology Transfer.
Cláudia Santos, Vice-director for Research, manage the Research Groups and the Technology Platforms. Is also responsible for the coordination of the Careers, Education and Training office.
Alda Castro, Finance and Administrative Director, is responsible for the financial planning, budgeting, and audit management.
Isabel Vitorino, Director of Technical and Administrative Services, oversees and coordinates the project’s administrative and technical team.
Miguel Santos, Director of Innovation and Technology Transfer, specializes in technology translation, pre-acceleration, and technology acceleration programs to optimize NIMSB’s impact in the field of innovation.
Ana Roberto, Assistant to the Board of Directors, offers comprehensive support to the institute’s Directors in fulfilling their responsibilities and duties.
Ana Tavares, Head of the Project Management Office, is responsible for the management of projects in the areas of scientific research and technological development, ensuring support for the administrative and financial execution of funding.
Catarina Valente, Management controller, supports directly the Finance and Administrative Director in her duties and is also responsible by the elaboration of the KPI to all departments.
Susana Pascoal, Research Funding Officer, works to raise funds to support the Institute’s research and innovation activities.
Natasa Loncarevic, Dissemination and Communications Officer, oversees the Institute’s public relations efforts and is dedicated to disseminating NIMSB’s initiatives to various stakeholders, including the scientific community, industry, and the general public.
Sandra Pereira, Human Resources officer, gives support to the Human Resources strategy.
Joana Sá, Public Procurement officer, gives support to all NIMSB themes related with public procurement and acquisitions.
Paula Simões, Accounting officer, is responsible for managing the financial and accounting operations.
Filipa Marques has a very dynamic position that provides high-level support and strategic insights to NIMSB. She serves as an adviser to the board of directors, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with organizational goals.
Soon, Group Leader Researchers and Technology Platforms Managers will be hired for the advancing NIMSB’s research domains.
The NIMSB research groups will focus on the study of human biology and the development of precision medicine to find new ways to combat diseases with high mortality and morbidity.
“NIMSB will provide state-of-the-art facilities in medical systems biology. These will include cellular and molecular characterization techniques and bioinformatics technologies with a focus on artificial intelligence,” said Susana Pascoal, NIMSB research funding officer. “This will allow us to understand the origins of diseases, as well as more precise prevention and treatment mechanisms.
NIMSB has national and European funding of 32.75 million euros. “All planned activities are at cruising speed”, added Ana Tavares, head of the NIMSB Project Management Office.
