Paula Simões, Joana Sá, and Sílvia Figueiras have joined the support team at the NOVA Institute for Medical Systems Biology (NIMSB) earlier this month. Their arrival marks a significant addition to our institute’s capabilities.

Paula Simões has assumed the role of NIMSB Financial Manager, overseeing budget execution processes and assuming responsibility for accounting, financial, and auditing procedures within the institute.

Joana Sá, the Legal and Procurement Manager, is responsible for overseeing the management and planning of public procurement. Additionally, she provides legal advice and consultancy for NIMSB.

Sílvia Figueiras is the Project Manager. In this capacity, she supports project management efforts in scientific research and technological development, ensuring the effective administrative and financial implementation of funding.

New positions will be annouced soon

NIMSB was officially launched in October 2023. During the current year, positions will be advertising positions for Group Leaders who will streamline and promote NIMSB research areas.

These research groups will focus on the study of human biology and the development of precision medicine to find new ways to combat diseases with high mortality and morbidity.

NIMSB will provide state-of-the-art facilities in medical systems biology. These will include cellular and molecular characterisation techniques and bioinformatics technologies with a focus on artificial intelligence.

Through these capabilities, NIMSB aims to gain insights into the origins of diseases and develop more precise prevention and treatment mechanisms.
