Isabel Fragata is an invited Professor at NOVA Medical School, head of the Department of Neuroradiology at ULS São José in Lisbon, and President of the Portuguese Society of Neurointervention.

Isabel Fragata obtained her medical degree in Portugal in 2001 and trained in Lisbon as a neuroradiologist. She completed a fellowship in Neurointervention at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York in 2007. Her medical career has been dedicated to interventional neuroradiology, both in adults and children, with a strong interest in the endovascular treatment of complex cerebrovascular diseases. She has had a leading role in developing interventional neuroradiology in Portugal, as a founder of the Portuguese Society of Neurointervention, as well as of the subspecialty of Interventional Neuroradiology. She is dedicated to teaching young neurointerventionalists, as a coordinator of the Intensive neurovascular course in Lisbon in recent years, and as faculty for the ESMINT Skills training course. She completed a Master degree in Neurosciences in 2003, followed by a PhD degree in 2018. She has a special interest in translational research, and is an leading researcher in several international clinical trials in stroke. She authored more than 110 scientific publications (h-index of 21, Google scholar). She strives to combine her career as an active physician with the role of a clinical researcher, as well as a mentor for younger physicians.
