On Friday, September 27th, the NIMSB took part in the European Researchers’ Night 2024, held at Marina de Oeiras. The team showcased the advancements in Precision Medicine and the exciting journey of establishing a new center of excellence in Medical Systems Biology through interactive and educational activities.

Last Friday marked a milestone for NIMSB as the team participated in its very first European Researchers’ Night. The event took place in the scenic Marina de Oeiras from 4 pm to 10 pm, where the NIMSB team engaged with visitors, discussing how Precision Medicine is poised to revolutionize the future of healthcare.

Representing NIMSB were: António Jacinto, the Scientific Director; Cláudia Nunes dos Santos, Vice-director for Research; Sofia Miguel, Vice-director for Financial Sustainability and Impact; and Natasa Loncarevic, Dissemination and Communications Officer. Together, they were excited to share insights into the field of Medical Systems Biology and the ongoing development of NIMSB’s work.

To make the concept of Precision Medicine approachable and engaging, the team prepared a series of hands-on activities and materials. Visitors of all ages were introduced to the essential tools and techniques used in developing personalized treatments. Younger attendees were challenged to step into the shoes of a scientist working on life-saving therapies, while older guests had the chance to test their skills against artificial intelligence in image analysis.

The event was a unique and enriching experience for the NIMSB team, who thoroughly enjoyed sparking conversations about Precision Medicine with the community. We hope all who visited found inspiration and a deeper understanding of the cutting-edge science that is shaping the future of healthcare.
