NIMSB Clinical Innovation Hub

Clinicians would like to intervene earlier and to understand better the development of a disease to make targeted therapeutic decisions for each person.

Researchers are eager to see their discoveries reach the clinic — where they can make a real difference.

The Clinical Innovation Hub at NIMSB was created to bridge this gap.

Our goal is to support you in accessing, understanding, and co-developing innovative technologies that respond to your clinical priorities.
Whether you are looking to explore novel biomarkers, or integrate multi-omics approaches into patient stratification, the Clinical Innovation Hub is here to collaborate and to innovate with you.

This department is being led by Dr. Cláudia Queiroga, who has 10 years of experience in the biomedical research and has worked in the clinical environment for 7 years in Portugal and internationally.

The success of a treatment often depends on the early disease detection

Nowadays, the therapy for a disease is given to a patient once a diagnosis is made, when the disease is already manifesting symptoms. Frequently, earlier intervention leads to higher success rates.

The organism exhibits changes in homeostasis even before the disease symptoms arise.

In addition, a deeper understanding of disease dynamics opens the door to identifying the most effective therapeutic strategies for each patient. This represents a critical window for intervention, where we propose to take action.

At NIMSB, our approach to therapeutics is anchored on two key pillars:

1) EARLY – to detect the earliest cellular changes that cause the onset of disease; and

2) PRECISION MEDICINE – to deliver personalized diagnostic and therapeutic solutions.

Technological platforms to foster medical innovation with real potential to improve patient care

At NIMSB, we are developing cutting-edge technological platforms designed to enhance our understanding of diseases, identify early biomarkers, track disease progression, and explore ways to intervene, guiding the body back to a state of homeostasis.

These platforms will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and supported by a multidisciplinary team of experts who bring deep analytical and biological insight through collaborative scientific partnerships.
