Emília Monteiro is Vice-Rector for Education, Academic Life, Health and Quality

 She is a Full Professor of Pharmacology at NOVA Medical School. She graduated in Medicine from the University of Navarra and holds a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Porto.

For ten years, she served as Deputy Director and Chair of the Pedagogical Council at NOVA Medical School.

She has chaired several evaluation committees of A3ES. She has developed multiple capacity‑building initiatives in clinical research: she was Co-Director of the PTCSRT programme (FCT–Harvard Medical School); created the master’s in clinical research management at NOVA University Lisbon; founded NOVA CRU; and initiated the creation of COLAB Trials. She was also the founder of PtCRIN, the Portuguese clinical research infrastructure integrated into the Landmark ECRIN‑ERIC.

She served as President of the Portuguese Society of Pharmacology, was a member of the Scientific Council of the Agence Nationale de Sécurité du Médicament et des Produits de Santé (France) and was a member of the Ethics Committee for Clinical Research (CEIC).

She is currently Vice-President of the National Academy of Medicine of Portugal.
