We are proud to share that Ana Patricia Silva, PhD student at the NOVA Institute for Medical Systems Biology (NIMSB) and NOVA Medical School, participated in the 3rd EUTOPIA Doctoral Summer School, which took place from July 18 to 22, 2025.

Organized by the NOVA Doctoral School in collaboration with the EUTOPIA Alliance, the summer school brought together participants from 14 universities — including 8 NOVA Schools, 4 EUTOPIA Alliance members, one EU partner university, and one institution from Brazil. The event welcomed researchers of 15 nationalities, representing 27 PhD programmes and research fields, all focused on the unifying theme of Sustainability.

Held in the inspiring surroundings of the Convento da Arrábida and at NOVA’s Rectorate, the programme offered a dynamic and immersive environment where doctoral candidates engaged in interdisciplinary collaboration, challenge-based learning, and cross-cultural exchange. Ana Patricia Silva actively contributed to this vibrant atmosphere, sharing perspectives and working alongside fellow researchers from across Europe.

The summer school concluded with a final pitch session, where teams presented solutions to sustainability-related challenges. These collaborative experiences are central to the development of future scientific leaders and are aligned with NIMSB’s mission to foster innovation through interdisciplinary and international research.

We congratulate Ana on her participation and thank the NOVA Doctoral School and all partners involved for organizing such a meaningful initiative.
