The Sequeira Lab recently took part in British Science Week 2026 with an exciting visit to the bilingual Judith Kerr Primary School in London.
The team brought science to life by introducing students to the fascinating world of cells – the basic units of life – through hands-on microscopy. Pupils had the opportunity to observe cells up close, sparking curiosity about how living organisms are built and function at the microscopic level. The session continued with interactive experiments, including extracting DNA from strawberries, where students were amazed to see the long, thread-like structure of genetic material with their own eyes.
To connect science with everyday life, the team also demonstrated the effects of fizzy drinks and acids on tooth enamel using eggs as a model, helping students understand how acids can erode minerals in teeth. The activity was both educational and engaging, inspiring young minds to explore science further while highlighting the importance of oral health.
